Nigeria records over 250,000 new cases of cancer every year. Over 70% present with advanced disease and eventually die from the disease. The most common reason why patients present late is lack of accurate information on cancer services and resources. About 70% of cancer patients are connected to the internet and seek health information online. With approximately 13 million smartphone users in 2015 in Nigeria, mobile technology is assuming an emerging role in this scenario. The Sebeccly Cancer App is poised to disrupt the bureaucratic access to cancer information and cancer care. Some of its features are novel and will bring immediate psychosocial relief to the app’s client. The app will be available to the public by June 2018 at no cost online.
